this week's simple pleasures

I have been relaxing so far this week. No painting, sanding, cleaning, scrubbing....

but I have been indulging in blueberries. They are just the best thing to me. It is the perfect little fruit, that has no seeds, peel to remove, easily portable and does not bruise, taste wonderful and best of all it is so good for us with all the antioxidants.

As I was taking pictures of my freshly picked blueberries I saw some roses in bloom in my garden so I just cut some to bring into the house. they are so pretty. Roses are one of my favorite flowers, so we have a rose garden that has the same amount of bushes as for the years we have been married. I know it sounds cheesy but I like symbols like that and I am a romantic!

So here it is for me today!

summer pleasures

This morning I went to the market to get some of our local produce. I always like to walk around and browse the booths, see what is in season. Smell the freshness of the fruits and vegetables. So here are my favorites of the day.

Departure

this morning was the big day for my two little ones. How happy they where to get into their car seats in grandpa and grandma's car. I did not have to say it twice. They hardly remembered to say goodbye. On the other hand I did not have the same excitement to let them go. But I know they will have a great time and do hope they will have memorable souvenirs from their visit.

will it be the right color?

This is one of my project this week. I am painting the dresser for the baby's room. Right now it seems a little scary and I sure hope I made the right choice. I have put a lot of work into this already. So we are going with green and tan. I will add an accent color when we know if its a boy or a girl. So right now neutral is good until the birth day! I'll show the final result later this week.

30 weeks

Time just seems to fly right now. I only have about 10 weeks or less to go. I have not yet to get the room ready or anything else. But I will be getting started this week. Baby is pretty calm. I for my part still feel good and the energy is back and I feel the nesting instinct kicking in these past few weeks.

3 yrs old

This is a very different day than the one we remeber from 3 yrs back on the day of her birth as the weather was very hot and sticky ranging in the upper 90's. Today was perfect, no humidity, and a cool lite breeze coming from the lake.
It was a great day to remember this birthday celebration. We had a very happy little girl very glad to see her friends that had come to have supper, make pretzel and play dough with her. And of course the celebration was topped with a delicious cake from Captain Sunday. It concluded with opening of presents and playing with her friends.
It was so nice to see how she was excited by all the events and that she knew what what coming next, especially when she saw the cake coming with the candles lite.
Our little girl is growing up and changing by the day!

Family Vacation at Sleeping Bear Dunes

This is our third summer going up to the National Forest and Lakeshore of the Sleeping Bear Dunes. We just love it and go back every year for the last full week of June. There is so much to do. So here we have some of the highlights of the trip. Fishing, and lots of it which both kids enjoyed and I too since I was able to just relax and sit on the beach. Tubing down the Platte river, kayaking, sit by the campfire eating hobo pies and marshmallows. Of course a few trips to town for ice cream, visiting a local fish hatchery, and playing at the park. Hanging out at our campsite a little with the kids helping out doing the dishes and food prep. One memorable moment was us meeting a wonderful christian family form Iowa. We got to spend time at the beach, by the campfire one night and of course the common thread that got us together at first fishing. We hope to see them again!

Overall it was a true vacation and great family time filled with many rich memories.
